Universal positioning stage for reflected - light microscopy

XYZ positioning stage for reflected - light microscopy enables independent positioning of a specimen. Stage movement in optical Z axis direction of microscope objective is realized by three separated linear motions. First two motions in Z direction are realized by adjusting rings of two high-precision turned working screws. The first movement has a travel range of 30 mm with 0.01 mm resolution. The second movement has a travel range of 5 mm and 0.001 mm resolution. The third movement in Z direction is controlled by a piezoelectric actuator with travel range of 100 micrometers and 1 nm resolution. Transveral motion in XY directions with travel range of 25 mm in each axis is realized by two independently controlled stages with ultrasonic motors with minimal step of 0.3 micrometer.
