Additional microscope module for imaging in diffuse media

Additional module for measuring of mutual shift between images. This shift is used for imaging with diffused light. The module consists of two parts, the imaging part and the detection part.

In the imaging part the diffuser (frosted glass), which creates the diffuse environment, is inserted between specimen and objective. The position of the diffuser is determined by the x-y translation stage. The diffuser is not homogenous, i.e. each part of it scatters the incoming light differently. Therefore determination of the precise diffuser position is necessary.

The detection part consist of a laser diode, CCD camera and an optical system, which introduces the light beam going from the laser diode onto the chip of the camera.  Thus we are able to detect the mentioned mutual shifts of size 0.4 microns. This is approx. two times lower distance than the resolution of commonly used objective 20x/0.4. The maximal shift we can measure equals approx. 1/4 of the field of view.
